8 Keys Why Coaches and Mentors Are Needed In Today’s Business
What is the shortest route for your business success in today’s ever changing business environment?
How many times have you gotten a whiplash from the ever moving line to reach your clients and customers today?
Who here has gone into overwhelm with all that is expected from a business today?
Where do you have opportunities to accelerate your success and profit and are not investing in you?
Did you know the most common question I get when talking about Social Media, New Media, Twitter etc…
STILL…”I don’t get it”
FAST SECOND…”When do I find the time?”
The BRONZE goes to…”Why would anyone want to hear what I have to say?”
Ok, lets talk about that from a coach or mentor’s mouth:
Interesting common denominator in each of your questions, what do you thing that would be? (Coach/mentor)
I’m not sure what do you mean common denominator? (client)
“Ok, let’s look at each response, may I say them out loud to you and maybe you will hear it?” (Coach/mentor)
Repeat their questions from above…
“WOW, I would have to say I was thinking about myself in every question, that’s really telling huh?” (client)
“Tell me as a consumer what are some of you biggest pet peeves with businesses you spend your dollars with and what are they missing or not giving you that you want more of today?” (Coach/mentor)
“Oh, that’s easy, I am tired of not having a real person to talk to when I call (if they even have a number for customer service) with a problem or question. It just chaps my nerves that I am not heard and I have to jump through hoops to be satisfaction. Another thing that’s really annoying is that companies today do not take the time to help their customers, how stupid is that. Yet, the big one is that they do not talk to us straight and give us real information we can base our decisions on, they just pander to what they think we want to know or what they want us to know.” (client)
“Sounds interesting and I agree. Do you see how you just answered the very reasons you gave for not participating in Social/New/Digital Media as the business owner? Almost to a tee, can I put them together for you so you can hear and absorb?” (Coach/mentor)
# 1 “I don’t get it” Your answer “Oh, that’s easy, I am tired of not having a real person to talk to when I call (if they even have a number for customer service) with a problem or question. It just chaps my nerves that I am not heard and I have to jump through hoops to be satisfaction.”
#2 “When do I find the time?” “Another thing that’s really annoying is that companies today do not take the time to help their customers, how stupid is that.”
#3 “Why would anyone want to hear what I have to say?” “Yet, the big one is that they do not talk to us straight and give us real information we can base our decisions on, they just pander to what they think we want to know or what they want us to know.”
Now, when you look at them put together can you see you hold the answers for yourself and it took a coach/mentor to give you a fresh perspective on how to tap into that information so that you can move forward for yourself and your business in an empowered way? (Coach/mentor)
Let’s look at opportunities that would have been lost by not participating and engaging in build your online community for your business.
Because it is easier to find actual uses from large companies who are nice enough to share their insights and of course we can read them along with everyone else-which is how accountability is being washed across the business world (and why you want to be there when they start talking). Let’s look at a business that have done a great job of it.
Comcast, now here is a company that has been able to turn around a nasty reputation over a period of time that would have been IMPOSSIBLE without social media.
Frank Eliason their Senior Director of National Customer Service has taken a company that came into the market with TWO black eyes. They were seen as the Big Guys ( and no one likes that now days) and they had a poor customer service performance as has been blogged, tweeted and talked about over and over. What did Frank do? He started monitoring and reaching out to folks who were feed up with the answers or lack of answers they received from Comcast customer service via phone or website.
Has it made them a perfect company? NO, and yet it has given them ways to re-engage with their consumer in a wave of human touch that before was missing. I know I was one of the pissed off customers who tweeted and talked with Frank numerous times until it was resolved. As a matter of fact Houston learned where some of their internal holes were as they handed off customer from one department to another as is necessary in many businesses to solve customers problems.
Now, here is what I know from a Coach/mentor perspective…clients especially solo-preneurs, service based professionals and small businesses are unprepared to use these powerful tools available today and they are losing out again to the Big Boys because of their lack of vision and action.
Can your business really afford to not use the opportunities you have available in Social/new/digital media to acquire new customers, gain ground to build a strong consumer base and re-engage current customers?
Michele , where are the 8 keys why coaches and mentors are needed?
They are inside this post. Did you catch them?
- The ability to see your strengths that you miss
- The ability to see the weakness where you are in denial
- The ability to point you in direction that will accelerate your business growth
- The ability to show you how to turn around your limiting beliefs so they benefit you and your business
- The ability to hear where you have opportunities in your languaging you are not hearing which affects what your customers take away
- The ability to show you a more efficient and effective system to reach your companies goals
- The ability to have someone who has succeeded in the arena you want to play in now
- The ability to introduce you to people who will have a profound impact on your business growth
So, yes while there is lots of FREE information out there to learn about Social/New/Digital media do you have the time to learn and sift through it all and then implement and test what will work for you and your business?
OR, would you rather take the short cut by working with someone who has traveled that road successfully and done all the hard work before you?
Everyone of these examples had the relationship with a powerful coach/mentor. There are great coaches and mentors out there…find one and work with them. Do not use the excuse of cost as your reason for failure. Find a way to make it happen that is what a entrepreneur does-make things happen.
Whether you are local in Houston or in England, remember you are not limited my geography any longer. Your only limited by your own mindset. The ONLY thing that separates you from the people in the video above is YOUR ACTIONS.
What will you do it is the second quarter of 2010 already. Will you position yourself for success and work with a Social Media Mindset Coach/mentor, will you take a class or engage one on one to grow your business? Take action or it will all be for NOTHING.
